    Responsibilities

    The Laser Lab Intern will work under the supervision of R&D engineers, scientists, and/or teams in the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, and equipment. Great potential to grow and advance. The candidates’s responsibilities will include:

    • Set-up, modify, and run a multiple axis laser system for calibrating optical systems.
    • Run laser process experiments and document results.
    • Assemble prototypes/products per design plan.
    • Troubleshoot and suggest creative solutions to process and design issues.
    • Capture and analyze experimental data, document conclusions and provide clear, concise reports.
    • Perform statistical analysis of results.
    • Communicate assignment status to project engineers.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Be a U.S. Citizen or classified as a U.S. Person.
    • Be pursuing a Master’s degree or higher in physics, engineering or related technical field.
    • Have strong understanding of lasers, laser safety and laser laboratory procedures.
    • Have experience in experimental design, techniques and execution in a laboratory.
    • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
    • Be a detail oriented individual willing to learn from engineers and fellow technicians.
    • Demonstrate understanding of laser parameter measurement (i.e. power, spatial and temporal beam profile, etc.)
    • Have experience in a laboratory environment; academic experience is acceptable.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The applicant should have experience with the following software tools:

    • MathCad
    • Matlab
    • Labview
    • SolidWorks
    • Microsoft Office Suite
