    Scope: The Director Manufacturing has the responsibility to manage an array of multi-functional production units with in the FMF facility that includes both represented and non-represented staff. The Director Manufacturing directs daily activities through subordinate managers who have a goal to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality and delivery schedules established by the customer. This position interacts with senior management on many complex issues and deals with a large scope of employees.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities & Tasks: 

    • Manages the Production Department to achieve the goals of cost, quality and delivery dates established by the customer and reflected in the product contract.
    • Reviews and establishes material, equipment and manpower resources need to meet all customer requirements.
    • Develops and communicates departmental standards & practices to the unit managers, department personnel and senior management.
    • Coordinates production activities with other facility functions such as:
      • Material Management – Supply Chain Management.
      • Marketing and Sales Development.
      • New product development that includes projecting production resource needs.
      • Customer Service for guarantees and warranties on products already produced and delivered.
      • Manufacturing Engineering specification.
      • Product Inspection for Quality Control.
    • Responsible for coordinating or approving the overall Human Resource actions taken in the Department, such as:
      • Employment decisions.
      • Skills and People-Management Training provided.
      • Employee motivation and encouragement.
      • Employee counseling.
      • Employee Discipline, to include suspension and termination decisions.
    • Other related duties as assigned by senior management.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):

    Bachelor's degree required.

     

    Experience Required:

    Functional (Using Skill Set): 5-10 years

    Management: 5-10 years

    Industry: 3-5 years 

     

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable): 

    • Ability to effectively work with all management levels with in the company.
    • Ability to resolve complex manufacturing problems.
    • Ability to successfully manage an annual operating budget with a production schedule.
    • Excellent communication skills; to both senior management as well as the production floor.
    • Excellent team management and motivational skills.
    • Knowledge of defense industry electronics manufacturing.
    • Ability to manage direct-report departmental staff with delegation of assignments.
    • Ability to manage and influence both exempt and non-exempt personnel.
    • Ability to manage technical staff employees.
    • Ability to manage represented production staff employees.
    • Familiar with electronic test equipment and testing techniques.
    • Familiar with electronic design techniques.
    • Understanding of reliability and supportability predictions and requirements.
    • Understanding of mechanical requirements.
    • Understanding of configuration management practices.
    • Understanding of LEAN manufacturing practices.
    • Knowledge of MRP systems.
