  • Overview

    The Production Materials Manager is responsible for coordination of activities related to materials and production planning, purchasing of material and services, inventory control and shipping/receiving to ensure production schedule adherence and inventory goals. Collaborates and agrees with account managers, program managers and production managers with regard to volume & capacity requirements respectively per defined time periods and ensures that production plans and materials are in place to support same. Ensures site/project inventory goals are achieved through effective deployment of planning and procurement processes. Creates positive work environment to enhance team member engagement and productivity.

    Responsibilities

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead Sales and Operating Process to develop long range material plan aligned with annual Sales and Engineering forecast. Plan products and raw materials in MRP. Manage material shortages for production build and communicate status to management. Attend production meetings, to provide detailed updates on the plan and manage promise dates.

     

    • Manages team to maintain high service levels/product availability and optimized inventory levels.

     

    • Coordinates with sourcing and quality teams to maintain an effective supplier performance program to meet ISO and FDA requirements.

     

    • Coordinate daily/weekly & monthly production planning activities with the planning team based on capacity requirements and reviews exceptions/misses to establish recovery plan.

     

    • Develop, maintain, analyze and publish KPI’s for functional and program reviews.

     

    • Establish and manage a cycle count program

     

    • Ensure effective inventory management & control in line with company targets by maintaining plant material inventories within defined monthly target levels, while minimizing excess, obsolete and expired products.

     

    • Complete quarterly EE&O (Excess, Expired & Obsolescence) analysis for defined set of product ownership.

     

    • Maintain accurate ERP master data to ensure 100% system data accuracy at all times

     

    • Manages the administration of procurement supply agreements, product licenses, Purchase Orders and other contracts for MRO, production services, and finished goods. Ensures processes and procedures are in place to adhere to agreements and T&C’s.

     

    • Coordinate Configuration Control Board activities, ensuring that all changes affecting production as well as components and assemblies are actioned in a timely fashion.

     

    • Collaborate with Shipping/Receiving and IT to develop and implement Materials Management

     

    • Provide the prime interface with Design Engineering as well as Configuration Control in the transitioning of newly designed products to Manufacturing. Assure that ERNs and planning Bills of Material are properly coded and netted. Manage the generation of status reports detailing ECO, Procurement, Manufacturing Fabrication, and Assembly actions during the transition period.

     

    • Ensure projects and tasks are completed in accordance with the applicable AS9100 or 13485 Quality Standard.

     

    • Manage the material quoting process, ensuring fair and accurate material cost roll ups.

     

    Qualifications

    A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Mathematics and 8-10 years direct leadership experience in production. Previous experience in a Medical Device, lean manufacturing driven company is desired. American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification a plus. Experience of ERP system is required, preferable in Oracle. Must possess an understanding of Order Entry, Purchasing, and other manufacturing modules. Strong working knowledge of Supply Chain Management principles such as MRP & inventory planning & control. Excellent planning & analytical skills are required. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially Excel (advanced skills) required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail is required.
