  • Overview

    The Design Quality Intern supports the Manager Design Quality Engineering in establishing, implementing and maintaining a Design Quality Management System (QMS) by assuring that the project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives of the assigned contract and communicating the program status to the Manager Design Quality Engineering, Program Management, Development Program Leads and the customer of Elbit Systems of America Fort Worth.


    • Working collaboratively with the Manager Design Quality Engineering, Design Quality Engineers, Program Management and Development Program Leads to implement, maintain, and analyze the software engineering process in order to achieve ESA Fort Worth’s commitment to meet requirements
    • Working to support process improvement activities using data analysis and other problem solving techniques.
    • Provide support role to other DQE’s for program responsibility for all stages of product design & development product life cycles with specific emphasis on Hardware, Software, and Systems.
    • Working to ensure that project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or the contract.
    • Communicating program status to the Manager Design Quality Engineering, Design Quality Engineers, Program Management, Development Program Leads, and the customer.
    • Working with the Quality Tools Administrator to develop, maintain, and implement continual improvement of the Design Quality web page.
    • Maintaining expert knowledge of Design Quality Engineering techniques through review of current literature, participation in professional activities, and acquisition and maintenance of appropriate certifications and registrations.
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.


    • Supports DQE Manager in defining the Design Quality functional organization and infrastructure in conjunction with the Director of Quality Management & Process Improvement.
    • Represent the Design Quality function on ESA Fort Worth and Customer teams in absence of senior Design Quality Engineering representatives.
    • Supports DQE Manager in the control processes necessary to provide evidence of conformance to requirements and of the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.  
    • Recommends the prevention of delivery of ESA Fort Worth products, documents, services, or other articles to customers or other stakeholders when there is evidence that they may not meet customer, statutory, regulatory, company, or other stakeholder requirements.
    • Recommends to DQE Manager, Design Quality Engineers, and the Manager of Supplier Quality the suspension of the use of suppliers when there is evidence that the products may not meet ESA Fort Worth, customer, statutory, regulatory, or other stakeholder requirements.

    Outside Business Relationships: 

    • Customer product design and development Quality professionals.



    High School Diploma Required; Must be actively enrolled as a college student

    Specific Degree Field, only if required: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.

     Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable):

    • Skilled in both Written and Verbal communication.
    • Ability to perform introductory ESA DQE duties with oversight by DQM/DQE
    • Ability to perform basic ESA DQE tasks to support design and development including, but not limited to Software, Hardware, and Systems.

    Job Status:  Part-time (Up to 40 hours a week over the summer and 29 hours or less a week during Fall/Spring semesters)
