  • Overview

    The Buyer / Planner I (DAP/FMF) will be responsible for all materials planning and Purchasing activities for assigned products and/or Manufacturing work cells to meet the guidelines established by the Master Schedule. Typically works on a program (or a portion of a program) that has been in production and has an established supply chain. Purchase a wide variety of equipment and materials requiring some knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical product specifications and sources of supply under the direction of a more senior Buyer or Manager.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities & Tasks: 

    • Reviews financial budgets for assigned programs with management on a monthly basis and provides input. 
    • Works under the direction of a more senior Buyer Planner or Manager to adjust deliveries in order to maximize cash flow. 
    • Typically works on a program (or a portion of a program) that has been in production and has an established supply chain. 
    • Utilizes pre-defined supplier selection. 
    • Understands/learns how to review MRP and run reports to determine open requirements. 
    • Issues requests for quotation to suppliers. 
    • Can release requisitions from BaaN. 
    • Releases purchase orders to suppliers scheduled directly as MRP indicates. 
    • Can expedite material thru incoming inspection and internal suppliers using email requests. 
    • Can execute against a previously defined inventory replenishment strategy. 
    • Releases purchase orders to suppliers scheduled directly as MRP indicates. 
    • Monitor, manage, maintain and expedite supplier orders as necessary. 
    • Provides summary level information both written and verbal that can be used for project status.
    • With guidance from supervisor or more senior level Buyer Planner, review data and understand how the information affects program success. 
    • Cooperates with one's coworkers and helps team leader meet goals. Shares information and ideas with the team.  Meets all team deadlines and responsibilities. 
    • Sends out items for quote with guidance from management or more senior level Buyer/Planner. 
    • Performs basic Price Analysis and conducts simple price negotiations. 
    • Attends CCB if supporting a program. May need assistance with ECO dispositions. 
    • Completes basic status reports on a predefined schedule. 
    • Possesses some familiarity with regulatory requirements (RoHs, Reach, FAA, FDA, FAR/DFAR, ITAR). 
    • Cooperates with one's coworkers and helps team meet goals. 
    • Shares information and ideas with the team.  
    • Assists in meeting team deadlines and responsibilities. 
    • Performs basic Price Analysis and conducts basic price negotiations. 
    • Develop PO packages to conform to company standard. 
    • Contacts Supplier-Requests RMA. Checks for export license, if required. 
    • Participates in MRB meetings. 
    • Negotiate with suppliers (price, schedule, T’s & C’s, etc.) 
    • Support proposal activities as required. 
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor. 

     

    Authorities: 

    • Negotiate and award purchase orders committing company funds in support of Program Schedule and Budgetary requirements
    • Identify and establish new sources of supply
    • Other delegated duties as assigned by supervisor

    Qualifications

    Education High School Diploma Required; Bachelor's Degree preferred or 5-10 years functional experience may substitute 

      

    Preferred: ISM Certification

     

    Experience Required: 

    Functional (Using Skill Set): 3-5 years experience 

    Management: Entry Level 

    Industry: 3-5 years experience

      

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable): 

    • Understands how to interpret MRP signals and plan requirements accordingly.
    • Able to review data and understand how the information affects program success. 
    • Can manipulate and analyze data using Excel and present findings and recommendations to management. 
    • Understands how to develop recovery plans.
    • Can evaluate capacity and capability of suppliers. 
    • Can be flexible in an ever changing environment. 
    • Learns, understands and can incorporate the essence of the foreign military financing guidelines into the purchasing activities. 
    • Has taken the basic Code of Business Ethics training and has a basic understanding of its impact on the Buyer Planner position. 
    • Able to provide information both written and verbal that can be used for project status as required or requested. 
    • Has taken the basic Code of Business Ethics training and has a basic understanding of its impact on the Buyer Planner position. 
    • Interacts with internal customers and verifies price and delivery. 
    • FAR/DFAR working knowledge. 
    • Aerospace, Military or similar industry.

    Requires an understanding of: 

    • Products 
    • Military specification
