  • Overview

    Scope: The Sr. Production Planner will be responsible for creating, and managing releases associated to the Circuit Card Assembly Value Stream. This requires, but not limited to, complete MRP analysis of Inputs, and Outputs, Capacity, system parameters, and actions related to the timely release, and management of Production Orders within the value stream. Ensuring the flow of assets supports the downstream production, and or customer needs.


    Responsibilities & Tasks: 

    • Monitor, and communicate Production Order Release statues to the value stream team, and managements (as needed).
    • Chair the daily SMT meetings, and assist the Value Stream manager in creating, and maintaining a detailed build schedule.
    • Coordinate kitting activities, with the production planners, and the warehouse teams.
    • Report shortages, and work directly with the expeditors, and SMT Buyer/Planner, to eliminate them.
    • Report On-Time Production Order Release metric, and offer corrective solutions in order to improve our on time releases to >98%.
    • Participate in daily Value stream stand up meetings, and other manufacturing meetings that pertain to, or affect the CCA area.
    • Release production orders, and ensure paperwork accuracy prior to the release of all new manufacturing items prior to release for the kitting activity.
    • Maintenance of open Production Orders as required.
    • Monitor MRP signals for manufactured items within your responsibility
    • Support periodic WIP floor audits, including reconciliation.
    • Support Pegging activities, transfers, and rework router activities.
    • Participate in Process Improvement, and Value Stream activities.
    • Monitor and report on aging of Production Orders in WIP.
    • Other related duties as assigned by Manager.




    • Action all messages generated by MRP, including release of Production Orders, Reschedule, and Cancellation.
    • Maintenance of Production Orders, including red-lining for Rework orders.
    • Manually firm-plan Planned Production Orders, as needed, to ensure all downstream areas do not run out of work.
    • Maintain item ordering, and planning data in BAAN based on the capacity, and planning processes.
    • Manage outside processing activities.
    • Prioritize materials needed to meet MRP schedules.

    Minimum Qualifications:


    Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):

    High school degree required. Bachelor degree preferred.



    Preferred:        CPIM Certification or equivalent


    Experience Required:

    Functional (Using Skill Set): 3-5 years

    Management: 5-10 years

    Industry: 5-10 years


    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable): 

    • Demonstrated experience scheduling a high mix surface mount production area
    • Knowledge of manufacturing complex electronic circuit card assemblies (CCA’s)
    • Experienced in a production order process.
    • Experience in a warehouse business environment.
    • Analytical aptitude.
    • Good inter-personal skills.
    • Ability to use software application as needed.
