  • Overview

    The Quality Systems Engineer provides support to the Quality Manager by assuring that the organizational Management System, as described in the ESA San Antonio Quality Manual, is aligned with the strategic goals of ESA San Antonio, meets customer requirements, meets industry standards and is in compliance with regulatory requirements by performing administrative tasks.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage all aspects of Management System Documentation, including procedures, work instructions, forms, and other documents as required
    • Maintenance of the Quality Manual to sustain compliance with current publications of, should be knowledgeable in the following requirements:
      • AS 9100/ AS 9110 / ISO 9001
      • FAA Part 21
      • FAA Part 145
      • Standard 8210C

     

    • Creation of preliminary documents for Management System
    • Coordinate review and publication of documents for Management System
    • Release of documents for Management System
    • Maintain and control current electronic Management System documents
    • Deliver notification of change for Management System documents.
    • Support and report annual review of Management System documents 

    Corrective Action

    • Coordinate administration of ESA San Antonio Corrective Action Request (CAR) database to ensure effective implementation
    • Prepare and distribute CAR reports
    • Assist in the review and evaluation of CAR records
    • Review of corrective actions 

    Management Review

    • Gather relevant data to be included in Management Reviews as deemed necessary for the Management System, including follow-up on the status of decisions made in previous Management Reviews, etc. 

    Internal Audits

    • Plan & Perform Internal Audits as directed

      • Determine scope and objective of audits

      • Create audit checklists

    • Prepare and distribute audit reports
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor. 

    Authorities: 

    • Support the Quality Manager in the:
      • Leading or coaching employees in the documentation techniques required for Management System documentation.
      • Transcribing document change requests
      • Release of documents for Management System
      • Archiving obsolete documents
      • Leading or coaching employees in the corrective action process
      • Issuance of corrective actions
      • Approval of corrective action responses
      • Evaluation of effectiveness of corrective action plans
      • Closing corrective action reports

    Outside Business Relationships: 

    • Third Party Management System Auditors
      • DCMA
      • FAA
      • Customers
    • Supplier corrective action
    • Customer complaints

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Associate's Degree Required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred (5-10 years functional experience may substitute)

     

    Specific Degree Field, only if required: Engineering – Quality, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical

     

    Certifications/Licenses:

     

          Required:         Airframe &/or Power Plant Mechanic Preferred

     

          Preferred (one or more):            

    •       AS 9100 Lead Auditor
    •       ASQ Certified Quality Auditor
    •       ASQ Certified Quality Engineer
    •       Six Sigma Green/Black Belt     

    Experience Required:

    • Functional (Using Skill Set): 5-10 years
    • Management: Entry Level
    • Industry: 5-10 years

    • Experience performing internal quality management system audits

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    • Be able to work in standing environments, hangar, etc.
    • Environment – controlled office, hangar, uncontrolled.
    • Be able to lift up to 25lbs at times
