Overview

The Logistics Manager is accountable for the management of all Warehouse, Transport and Inventory management activities which include: shipping, receiving, storage, material movement, inventory management (accuracy, inventory count) and material tracking between the main site and remote sites. This is a fast paced environment with multiple jobs going on at the same time.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain organized inbound and outbound freight flows in warehouse.
  • Ensure storage of property is managed to properly protect government and company owned inventory.
  • Organize inventory to maintain clear ownership and programmatic ownerships for accountability and visual recognition of items in warehouse.
  • Manage shipment of inventory based on company and customer requirements.
  • Appropriately package freight to minimize damage in shipment.
  • Keep warehousing area organized, clean and clear.
  • Track inbound and outbound freight to ensure timely receipt and minimize loss in transit.
  • Ensure property is shipped via company procedures and completed on appropriate shipping documentation.
  • Process receipts of serviceable and unserviceable assets and material in a timely manner to facilitate on time payment to suppliers and to meet on hand inventory min/max levels.
  •  Manage inventory quantities to ensure appropriate min/max levels are defined and maintained
  • Work closely with Procurement to ensure supply of inventory is maintained to schedule need dates and quantity for both San Antonio and outlying base locations
  • Oversee rotable pool management for stock, customer forecasted demands and supplier exchanges.   Work in conjunction with Procurement on their efforts with suppliers.
  • Analyze and propose relevant material flow to the best value of the organization / programs.
  • Works closely with the CLS and MRO groups to select the appropriate means and methods in support of the Program necessities. 
  • Initiate improvements and recommendations as an ongoing activity and strategy. 
  • Able to analyze data, develop metrics to measure and report inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving turnaround times and budgets.

  • Strong computer skills (heavy on Excel for data management)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in transportation activity (road and air)
  • Strong problem solving skills

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS), plus 10 years related experience in logistics/shipments coordination, with a minimum of 5 years in the aviation industry.

 

Must be knowledgeable in Material Supply Chain practices including inventory management, shipping (domestic and international), receiving, material movement and kitting.

 

Must have good verbal and written communication skills to articulate ideas and information with clarity. Must be able to communicate at all levels between functions, program teams and management.
