Responsibilities

We are looking for an individual to join our team as a Human Resources Generalist Intern working in the Human Resource Department. This is an excellent opportunity for student looking to gain experience and enhance their skills. The intern will be responsible for:

  • Assist in developing and delivering “One Company” name concept
  • Work closely with and assist senior team with all internal communications
  • Prepare and send out internal communications to employees
  • Develop PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership for quarterly One Company meeting
  • Point of contact for site for providing information to be submitted for the quarterly company newsletter
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company portal (intranet site) as a communication tool for employees by partnering with the IT department
  • Assist with any administrative duties such as data entry, copying and filing
  • Prepare briefs, presentations and assist with developing curriculum for management
  • Coordination for all company sponsored events
  • Assist in providing benefit plan material to requesting employees with accuracy and efficiency along with preparing benefit orientation packets for new hires and qualifying events
  • Assist with employee mass-mailings during the year
  • Assist with open enrollment
  • Understand the array of duties performed by the Benefits and Compensation Analyst and, with approval, perform some of the duties as needed on absence days or high volume days
  • Provide relief as needed for HRIS data entry for all sites
  • Own the responsibility for voluntary benefits which may include enrollment/eligibility filing to vendors (pre-paid legal, cancer/critical illness)
  • Assist with EOI (Evidence of Insurability) processing for supplemental life policies
  • Prepare invoices for approval by supplying proper invoice coding
  • Assist with OPEB (Other Post-Employment Benefits) union early retiree benefit administration
  • Benefit temporary ID card requests
  • Input 401(k) changes for all sites
  • Assist with consolidation and formatting of job descriptions
  • Gather and pull information and files as needed for an array of multiple audits
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

We are looking for a year round intern that can commit to working 20-25 hours a week.

 

Must be a full time student and able to work up to 20-25 hours a week. We will work around your class schedule as we realize you are a student.

 

Prefer a sophomore or junior working toward a degree in Human Resources, Communication or Business.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Power Point, Excel) and other Internet authoring software
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent creativity skills
