Overview

Scope:

The Information Technology Generalist III position has overall responsibility for the IT department at their location. Responsibilities include leading the IT staff and supporting the PCs, printers, applications, servers, desktops, phones, and network. In addition to leading the IT staff, this position is hands on, actively working on outages, incidents and projects. Works with company management team to define priorities and projects that support the overall business plan and objectives. As time permits, this position may also be part of a virtual Shared Services hands-on administration team.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Responsible for IT support of the applications, servers, PCs, VOIP and network environment.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and corrects outages to the IT environment.
  • Works very close with Shared Services teams such as Infrastructure and Service Desk
  • Participate in development of a business case and project plan for new technology projects.
  • Ensures timely project completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicates priorities, status, issues, and recommendations on a timely basis.
  • Develops and documents local IT procedures.
  • Off-shift and on-call support is required
  • Adhere to all IT policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):

Bachelor degree - Computer Science or a related field.

 

Training Pre-requisites (Within One Year of Taking Position):

 

      þ ESD

      þ Safety Training, as dictated by Safety Department

Certifications/Licenses: (DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification)

      Required: None                        

      Preferred: Microsoft certifications; Cisco certifications

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 5+ years of successful professional experience, or equivalent education, training and/or experience
  • Must possess proven analytical ability and high level technical background.
  • Experience with providing direction and guidance to a small IT staff, including vendors and consultants.
  • High level of hands on competency with Windows desktop hardware and software, printer support, manufacturing shop floor systems and some Cisco network equipment.
