Overview

The position is for a Staff System Engineer to develop Matlab/Simulink system models for EO/IR detection, targeting, and imaging systems. System modeling activities will support Missile Warning Systems, Situational Awareness Infrared Search and Track, Navigation Systems, and Enhanced Vision Systems.  Work includes, but is not limited to, target modeling (missiles, aircraft, runways, and vehicles), atmospheric modeling, IR/EO sensor modeling, and system performance estimation. This position is for System Engineering Center of Excellence for Elbit Systems of America (ESA). This position requires the successful candidate to demonstrate at least ten years’ experience in system modeling for Aerospace or Military Applications. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable):

  • Design and development of Matlab/Simulink modeling, including but not limited to:
    • Detailed knowledge of Matlab/Simulink tools (advanced user with 10+ years’ experience)
    • Detailed knowledge of IR/EO systems including generation/use of characterization data
    • Detailed knowledge of integrating software/firmware source into Matlab/Simulink
    • Detailed knowledge of integrating 3rd party tools into Matlab/Simulink
    • Detailed knowledge of performance report generation using Matlab/Simulink
    •  
  • Knowledge of algorithms, image processing, software, and firmware is preferred
  • Knowledge of model based design is preferred

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and executing the modeling effort to span multiple programs. They will work with the system engineering, software engineering, and firmware engineering organizations to predict/assess system performance, and in cases of deficiencies, lead trade studies to address performance gaps.

 

This will include:

  • Capturing results in white papers and presenting results to customers (strong technical presence)
  • Working with interdisciplinary team consisting of systems, software, firmware, and electrical
  • Working with test engineering team with EO/IR sensor characterization
  • Ability to create and execute to digital system modeling roadmap including hardware-in-the-loop and integration with embedded processing
  • Excellent planning, management and communication skills
  • Ability to provide technical direction and generate material for proposals
  • Ability to contribute to corporate roadmaps including EO/IR and embedded processing technology
  • Analysis of Customer Documentation to create System Level Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), Specifications, and Architectural Design
  • Work independently and create technical direction for the overall organization

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years functional experience required; Master's Degree preferred

  • Specific Degree Field: Aeronautical, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Software or Systems Engineering.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
