Overview

MAJOR JOB OBJECTIVES

This is an entry-level production supervisor position with full program and supervisory responsibilities for a functional group of E/M Assemblers and/or technicians under the general supervision of a Manager. Maintain internal customer satisfaction by ensuring the manufacture, maintenance or support of quality products, equipment or services delivered within budget and on or ahead of schedule. Supervise operations and personnel for the assembly of precision components, subassemblies, complex parts and finished goods based on established methods and prints involving a variety of specialized techniques, equipment and skills. Ensure positive communication and employee relations and the consistent application of company policies.

 

 

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Accountable for supervisory responsibilities to meet core production metrics goal on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Establish work assignments, provide direction and prioritization for personnel who assemble complicated products based on established methods and or prints and involving a variety of specialized techniques, equipment and skills. Define training and development requirements and ensure the appropriate training of personnel on products, processes and policies.

  • Champion of company culture, encourage and enable a positive team environment that is open to change.

  • Makes decisions by getting input from cross-functional team members and communicating to the team in an effective and timely manner.

  • Ensure technical, internal/vendor quality, tool calibration, financial, and production or service metrics are accurately measured and drive the resolution of issues.

  • Work with Buyer/Planners to ensure material availability, coordinate builds, expediting as needed, coordination of production scheduling and cost approval.

  • Prepare schedules, manpower requirements and staffing plans.

  • Communicate program performance reviews to Production Manager, identifying risk and recommending risk avoidance measures.

  • Effectively communicate program status, negotiate issues lead the conflict resolution of team members, involving HR as needed.

  • Proactively identify problems, their root cause and collaborate with Industrial Engineering on Lean initiatives. Drive the implementation of improvements and Lean processes, such as 5S, value stream mapping and Takt time management to remedy issues.

  • Review and approve Non-Conforming Materials Reports (NCMRs) and Failure Reporting Systems (FSRs). Responsible for initiating Return Material Approvals (RMAs), Temporary Deviations (TDs) and Supplier Manager Review Requests (SMRRs).

  • Perform Can-Build Analysis – reviewing parts available and coordinating with Buyer/Planner and Account Manager to review how many units can be built.

  • Responsible for hiring, training and managing performance of production unit personnel. Regularly provide constructive, verbal and written, performance feedback.

  • Supervise the timely and accurate reporting of labor and production or service data. Provide weekly timecard approvals and adjustments in AutoTime.

  • Prepare for and conduct effective stand up meetings.

  • Ensure adherence to federal and state laws and company policies and procedures including: Human Resources, labor, safety and housekeeping practices, etc.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a technical or business discipline (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and 2-4 years’ related demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing work experience and certification desired.
  • Decisive, driven and results orientated. Proven ability to multi-task with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership ability, high emotional intelligence, learning agility, math skills and business acumen.
  • Requires strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and conflict management skills.
  • Experience developing and conducting effective skills training and other presentations.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle and PLM.
  • Basic project management skills.
