Overview

The Senior Sustaining Electrical Engineer provides high-level Engineering support to our customers and cross functional teams by troubleshooting difficult problems, formulating technical reports, and providing technical guidance. Develops highly complex test programs and processes.

 

Must have background in Avionic Systems, Radio-Frequency (RF), technical report writing (White Papers)

Responsibilities

  • Reading electrical design specifications and technical drawings to communicate effectively with our customers on high-level system requirements, problem solving to resolution, and providing data report dialogue
  • Understand and interpret contractual requirements
  • Collaborates with other Engineering groups to improve or upgrade product performance
  • Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by understanding design methodology
  • Debugs complex test hardware and software
  • Evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications
  • Analyzes test cases and scenarios and reports results
  • Confirms systems and components capabilities by designing testing methods; testing properties
  • Able to interpret test specifications from Engineering in order to write test plans
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components; soliciting observations from operators
  • Support test technicians by troubleshooting difficult problems and instructing the technicians in techniques to resolve these issues
  • Develop test equipment and test assemblies to aid the technicians in isolating problems
  • Actively involved in proposals that require recurring and non-recurring cost estimates
  • Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and establishes procedures; requests repair service as necessary
  • Write ECPs for products to correct errors and to resolve production difficulties
  • Provides New Product Setup, Programming and Support, ECO and Process Improvement Implementation
  • Provides support to transition new products from engineering to production
  • Stay abreast of all state of the art, technical and equipment issues through training and self-development
  • Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities
  • Adhere to internal ethics, procedures and external regulations and laws
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Work with project managers on production efforts to ensure that projects are completed on time, and within budget
  • Carries out feasibility studies for new technical innovations
  • Able to analyze technical data package for new programs with minimal supervision, to anticipate and prevent, where possible, production issues and risks
  • Able to participate in small teams for issue resolution
  • Able to troubleshoot complex issues with minimal supervision, and break them down into smaller, simpler tasks for the technicians to perform.
  • Exhibit a willingness to stay abreast of all state of the art technical and equipment issues through training and self-development  
  • Familiarity with basic test equipment (i.e. oscilloscopes, voltmeters, signal generators, etc.)
  • Good Working knowledge of customer operation field program
  • Working knowledge with state of the art avionic systems technology such as Digital, Analog, Power supplies, RF, Displays, Optics and Communication equipment

 

Qualifications

Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):

Bachelor degree required.

     Specific Degree Field, only if required: Electrical Engineering

 

B.S. Electrical Engineering

10+ years experience with Defense Electronic Systems

Technical writing experience

Superb communication skills

 

Training Pre-requisites (Within One Year of Taking Position):

 

      R ESD

      R Safety Training, as dictated by Safety Department
