Overview

The Quality Engineering II will plan, devise and implement Quality Assurance standards, instructions, and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment for an assigned complex project or area to assure the highest quality levels and cost‑effective compliance with contractual and Company requirements. Provide technical support to inspection and test personnel. Design and establish workmanship criteria for projects. Develops and implements test techniques and procedures as required.

 

This role will actively participate in product development and transfer activities, ensuring product and process conformance to FAA and Military standards. Review new and modified product designs for quality characteristics; including manufacturability, serviceability, and conformance to product requirements.

 

Furthermore, the role will monitor, manage and resolve issues related to supplier quality performance by handling the disposition of supplier rejections (MRB), completing supplier corrective actions and supporting supplier related material search activities for the Talladega Facility. Some Inspection activity may be required.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities & Tasks: 

  • Assist in developing and establishing Quality Assurance programs to provide and maintain the highest quality levels for an assigned project, product or area.
  • Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of assigned products or production equipment.
  • Conduct experiments and audits to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes. Evaluate data from experiments and prepare reports and summaries outlining results and recommend revisions or modifications to the product or process to maintain or improve product quality.
  • Assist in evaluating reliability of the finished product, ensuring that all established standards and regulations are met. Assist in determining equipment to be used to maximize manufacturing effectiveness and minimize cost.
  • Assist in complete failure analysis investigations to determine the root cause and take appropriate corrective action to revise design, methods and inspection/test instructions to prevent failure recurrence.
  • Assist in the design of the more complex equipment for testing products and prepare schematic drawings and complete parts lists; issue work orders for production of equipment as designed and follow‑up on construction.
  • Assist in developing test techniques and methods for testing company products or components on the basis of customer specifications, and analyze engineering orders for effect on test procedures.
  • Evaluate and monitor quality of vendor services and goods and recommend selection of optimum vendors.
  • Serve as member of Material Review Board and Corrective Action Boards.
  • Support the manufacturing process in resolving design problems, assist in the transition of products from development into production.
  • Monitor use of test equipment to assure efficient utilization. Recommend corrective action relative to design, application, or procedures.
  • Evaluate test specifications and test equipment for purposes of improving current methods and operations. Perform initial tests with equipment and instruct test personnel in its use.
  • Provide instruction to others in the fabrication and operation of test equipment, and in the interpretation of test procedures.
  • Perform special studies and assignments as designated.
  • Manage supplier approvals.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Support internal and external customers in resolving supplier related issues.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree is preferred; 3-5 years functional experience may substitute.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required: 

  • Must be familiar with FAA and Military standards
  • Strong communication skills
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of ISO9001, AS9100C/D, AS9110B standards and DFAR, CFR Regulations
  • Be familiar with validation methods and protocols, test methods, statistical analysis methods and specification derivation and assignment
