Overview

M7 Aerospace based in San Antonio, Texas, delivers depot-level repair, field service support, logistics support, aircraft modifications, contractor logistics support as well as maintenance and repair for commercial and sophisticated military electronic systems and components.

 

Organizationally, the group leader falls between the supervisor and the worker on the floor and assists the supervisor performing this responsibility as well as performing work within his classification group. Reports directly to the Director Maintenance. Must have A&P license, Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

              

  • Assigns work to members of group in order to maintain proper work flow, and keep employees actively working
  • Trains employees in group on work methods and techniques.
  • Coordinates the efforts of all employees in group.
  • Checks machines, equipment, incoming materials and complete work.
  • Records information, such as time and production data.
  • Directs workforce and makes significant recommendations to supervisor regarding personnel decisions such as: hiring and firing, promotion and transfer, pay adjustments and disciplinary action.
  • Regularly performs all tasks of workers in occupational group when not involved in supervisory or administrative duties.
  • Required to use all tools and machine equipment used by the workers in the group leader's work group.
  • Accuracy requirements in accordance with specifications and established company work standards.
  • Travel required as needed.
  • Assists in assuring all applicable procedures and policies are enforced and monitored.
  • Ensures personnel safety and aircraft airworthiness are the primary objectives in all activities.
  • Daily attendance is an essential requirement.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

 

High school education and trade or technical school. A&P License required

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE:

 

Minimum of five years’ experience in aircraft maintenance and two or more years supervisory experience. NOTE: Since Group Leader will spend at least 20% of time performing production work, he looses his exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is subject to overtime payment at 1 1/2 times hourly rate for hours in excess of 40 per week. Must have a valid Airframe & Powerplant Mechanics certificate.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  • Exposed to typical aircraft repair station conditions such as engine noise, riveting, dust and chemical fumes, none of which to the extent of being intolerable. Hearing, vision and breathing protection provided in appropriate areas.
  • Working areas naturally ventilated and mechanically heated when required.
  • Work may be performed while exposed to elements of weather.

 

PHYSICAL & MENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

  • Requires lifting of items weighing up to and over 60 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Requires physical effort associated with standing/walking/sitting.
  • Requires ability to twist, bend, squat, climb and/or other body movements to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position.
  • Requires the use of either or both hands for grasping items, manual dexterity is required, and the ability to push/pull, i.e.: open/close file cabinets and/or handle machinery.
  • Requires the ability to reach above shoulder height in accomplishing job tasks. 
  • Requires the ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Able to properly recognize and distinguish colors.
  • Sufficient vision required to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position.
  • Requires sustained periods of concentration.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations without affecting logical decision-making.
